Kathmandu: AFC President Cup participating Three Star Club started their early preparation for the September finals as the Nepal champions are travelling to Bhutan to play in the King’s Cup starting next week.
Three Star’s young coach Pradip Humagai, who just attended an AFC 'B' Licence Certificate Course in Kathmandu, is taking the King’s Cup in neighbouring Bhutan as an occasion to test the mettle of his squad players.
“At the moment, a total of 11 players from Three Star Club are attending the national team’s camp for the upcoming South Asian Football Championship (SAFF),” he told www.the-afc.com.
“So our fringe players will definitely get chances to impress in Bhutan. I hope the experience these players get from the national camp and from Bhutan will be vital for the team during the AFC President’s Cup,” the 33-year old coach added.
Humagai will miss the Three Star bench in Bhutan as he is leaving for Norway to attend a match analysis course. “As a coach, this course is very vital for me so I am looking forward to enhancing my football knowledge,” he added.
The inaugural AFC President’s Cup semi-finalists will know their fate on July 31 when the draw for the finals takes place in AFC House, Kuala Lumpur.
Six finalists will be divided into two groups of three and the top side of each group will contest in the final. The other participating clubs are Erchim FC of Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan’s Dordoi, KRL Football Club of Pakistan, Balkan of Turkmenistan and Palestine’s Al Quds Hilal Club.
