Kuala Lumpur: The FIFA Futuro III Grassroots Instructors’ Course for Asean and East Asia Region kicked off on Monday in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
The six-day course is being jointly organised by FIFA, AFC and the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) with a total of 19 instructor participants from the region attending it.
Hong Kong’s Chan Hiu Ming and Lim Kim Chon of the FIFA’s Development Office in Kuala Lumpur (DOKL) are the instructors of the course.
“This course is organised to provide modern methodology to our grassroots instructors for the more effective delivery of grassroots activities and programme,” AFC Deputy General Secretary Windsor John told the participants during the opening ceremony of the course.
“You will be dealing with the instructors with vast experiences as the objective is to develop instructors within each MAs for the widespread delivery of the AFC’s grassroots courses,” he added.
Likewise, Jean-Marie Conz, FIFA’s senior manager of the Technical Department stressed on the importance of the grassroots football for the overall development of the game in the world.
“Organisation and Educations are key elements as play is the best means of learning. Above all, youngsters should have fun,” said Conz.
“The game is the best teacher and ensuring the kids play football is equal to reaching our objectives.
“The coach educators’ mission means sharing, giving, communicating and interacting with others and taking enjoyment in this,” he added.
The course consists topics on ‘fun football coaching’, ‘fun football instructors’ and participants’ demo coaching’, kids’ football (8-10 year-age) coaching’, ‘young player development’, ‘laws and philosophies of grassroots football’, ‘sport safety and health,’ ‘role of the technical coach,’ and ‘organising football festivals.’
Also present during the opening ceremony were FAM Vice-President Dato’ Subahan Mohd Kamal, General-Secretary of the FAM Dato’ Hamidin bin Hj. Mohd Amin and DOKL technical assistant Dato’ Yap Nyim Keong.
