Kuala Lumpur: China national referee He Jin who was an observer in a course for AFC Elite Women’s Referees is inspired by the goings-on and excitement in the work of an elite and eagerly awaits the moment when she becomes an Elite Referee herself.
By being an Elite Women’s Referee, He Jin will be eligible to work in AFC and FIFA competitions, a major step up from her current work in the Chinese Women’s League, the top women’s league in the nation.
The 25-year-old was a member of the 2008 batch of young referees who took part in the AFC Project Future Referees Programme and since completing the course designed to develop the continent's top up-and-coming match officials she has been taking charge of local matches as well as continuing her refereeing education.
And as He, who took charge of 15 matches in the Chinese Women's League last season, harbours a dream that someday she will be an Elite Women’s Referee and takes charge of a continental match for the first time in her fledgling career by making the most of the educational opportunities that come her way, including the Elite Women's Referees' Course, held as part of the AFC Elite Education Seminar 2012 which is currently underway in Kuala Lumpur.
"I am inspired to be an Elite Referee," she told the-afc.com during a break from her course.
"I graduated from the PF Referees programme in 2010 and since then I’ve been training and learning to be an elite in the future while busily working in the Chinese Women's League.
"In this course I'm now in, I'm surrounded by many more experienced referees and friendly, top instructors and I'm absorbing as much as I can from this elite seminar, which is the second one I have attended.
"I hope I will be like them someday."
