Mumbai: India’s fine recent run of form continued on Saturday as they secured an impressive 4-1 friendly win over Puerto Rico at the Andheri Sports Complex Stadium.
India, who have now lost only one of their last 11 matches, did however go behind to Puerto Rico, Emanuel Sanchez giving the visitors the lead from a seventh minute penalty after Elliot Velez had been felled in the box by Jackichand Singh.
The South Asians were not behind for long though, Narayan Das reacting quickest to score after Sunil Chhetri’s free-kick had hit the post in the 18th minute.
Chhetri duly handed India the lead eight minutes later thanks to a pinpoint free-kick before a Jeje Lalpekhlua header saw Stephen Constantine’s charges lead 3-1 at the break.
Puerto Rico’s Michael Ramos hit a post in the second half, only to see Jackichand effectively end the game as a contest after crashing home a shot on 58 minutes.
