Hennef: “It’s all in the details,” AFC Project Future (PF) Coaches have heard in their foreign attachment course in Hennef, Germany.
During one of their classes, the PF Coaches have learned that paying attention to every little detail in football coaching is important as sometimes it is the little thing that can make or break in a match or training session.
German U-20 national team assistant coach Daniel Niedzkowski touched on the topic "Coaching: The Details" on Wednesday during the PF Coaches’ eight-day attachment hosted by the German FA (DFB) at the Hennes Weisweiler Academy.
Niedzkowski started the session by showing multiple match clips to the participants, after which, he led a brief discussion on what went wrong or right in the matches shown.
This was then followed by his main presentation where he discussed in details with the PF Coaches the elements and algorithm of coaching and the details a coach should look out for during a training session.
Niedzkowski’s theoretical class was then followed with a practical session on the field where he demonstrated the "Vertical Play" system, giving the PF Coaches a direct first-hand experience of the effectiveness of the system if all the coaching points were met.
Later, a "Hot Seat" session was conducted by DFB International Technical Consultant Horst Kriete, where two PF Coaches sat in the middle of the classroom and gathered feedback from all the other PF Coaches on his performance and style in the their practical sessions the afternoon before.
The session was then followed by the presentation of a match analysis between Bayer Leverkusen and Hertha Berlin by the participants after watching the match live at the BayArena last Saturday. Kriete also discussed in detail with the participants the findings of the match.
The day ended with a friendly match between the PF Coaches and participants of a DFB 'A' Licence Course which was also happening at the Hennes Weisweiler Academy.
Foreign attachment is one of the important elements in Project Future Coaches, AFC’s elite two-year coach grooming programme that ends with the participants graduating with the AFC ‘B’ Football Coaching Certificate.
