Manchester: The first goal of the 2014/25 English Premier League season was scored by Korea Republic international Ki Sung-yeung, who slotted home the opening goal in Swansea City's shock 2-1 away win over Manchester United on Saturday.
The 25-year-old, who began his professional career at FC Seoul before moving to Scottish champions Celtic, netted the first goal of the new English season when he side-footed past David De Gea with 28 minutes at Old Trafford played.
The home side, who kept Japan international Shinji Kagawa on the bench, equalised eight minutes into the second half through skipper Wayne Rooney only for Gylfi Sigurdsson to score the 72nd minute winner for Swansea, who were without Chico Flores and Pablo Hernandez after the duo left the Wales-based side to join the Qatar Stars League, with Flores linking up with former Swans boss Michael Laudrup at QSL champions Lekhwiya and Hernandez joining Al Arabi.
