Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Referees Committee has approved today at its meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the criteria for the appointment of Women’s officials in the preliminary and group stages of the 2019 AFC Cup season.
Prospective candidates must be a candidate for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019, achieve a high-performance grading level and pass the official FIFA international men’s fitness test.
In his opening address, Deputy Chairperson, Hany Taleb B S Al-Raeesi paid tribute to the performance of the AFC’s referees at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where Asia had a record 16 match officials.
He said: “It has been an exceptionally successful year for Asian refereeing and we can be extremely proud of the conduct and performance of our officials at the FIFA World Cup. We must also express our special congratulations to Alireza Faghani for officiating the third and fourth playoff.
“The success of our match officials is a testament to the progress of the AFC’s Vision and Mission.”
