Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia is holding its eighth AFC Level 1 Futsal Coaching Certificate Course in the national capital attended by 21 participants.
The course, held from 16 to 21 March, is also the first one co-organised by the Kuala Lumpur FA (KLFA) and Football Association of Malaysia.
The course aims at educating and developing potential futsal coaches with proper futsal information in the nation who will be participating in the 2014 AFC Futsal Championship in Vietnam from 30 April to 10 May.
Currently active club coaches, former national players and a Singaporean are among the participants in the course.
“I strongly believe that this coaching course will be able to develop more potential futsal coaches in Kuala Lumpur and these coaches are going to be responsible to train and produce more men’s and women’s futsal players in the state and nation in the near future,” said Datuk K. Sabaratnam, a KLFA Executive Committee Member.
“We would like to thank the AFC and Football Association of Malaysia for their approval to hold this course and wish to see more coaching courses introduced in Kuala Lumpur to raise the standard of futsal and at the same time the KLFA is looking forward to organising more AFC Futsal Levels 1 and 2 Coaching Certificate Courses.”
Ali Targholizade, AFC Director of Futsal and Beach Soccer Development, added his comments: “I believe that the Kuala Lumpur state has many potential coaches and with educational courses organised it will definitely improve the coaches’ competency and develop more quality futsal players in the future.”
The course is conducted by AFC Futsal Instructor Chiew Chun Yong of Malaysia. The Level 1 certificate is the basic futsal coaching credential from which holders can proceed to take the next and higher qualification, the Level 2 certificate.
