Qinhuangdao: Chinese Super League (CSL) side Hebei China Fortune have named former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini as their new head coach.
Having left City during the summer, the 62-year-old Chilean replaces one-time China international Li Tie who has left the club despite leading them to promotion to the top-flight in 2015 and fifth place in the current CSL standings.
The deal sees Pellegrini become the latest high profile coach to make the move to China where he will join the likes of Luiz Felipe Scolari (Guangzhou Evergrande) and Sven-Goran Eriksson (Shanghai SIPG) on the touchline.
Pellegrini – an English Premier League title winner during his time at the Etihad Stadium - will be tasked with revitalizing Hebei’s fortunes following a dip in form that has seen them win only one of their last five games and slip some 15 points behind table-topping Guangzhou Evergrande – their next CSL opponents on September 10.
