Kuala Lumpur: Fifteen participants of the AFC Midnight Football youth development programme will get a boost when they take part in a foundation coaching session by the Chelsea FC here on Wednesday.
The Chelsea FC Foundation Head Coach and Chelsea FC coaches are expected to be present during the youth training session.
The session is part of the programme of the English Premier League (EPL) side’s Asia Tour 2011, whose main activity here is a friendly match with the Malaysia national team on Thursday.
The training activities will be adapted according to the size of the group (ideally between 30 and 50 players), the ages (ideally between eight and 12 years) and abilities of the group.
The session will start with a 15-minute warming up followed by turning, overload and shooting practices.
Small-sided games are then expected to follow with the possibility of penalty shoot-out excitements. A short presentation of gifts and prizes will conclude the much-awaited coaching session.
Midnight Football is the AFC Dream Asia social development project’s flagship programme launched in Malaysia aimed at helping unguided youths back on track to becoming contributing citizens with football as the main agent of change.
The 15 Malaysian boys will be joining the football fever which currently grips Malaysia, the venue of three back-to-back friendlies between the Asean nation and three EPL top clubs – Arsenal (on July 11), Liverpool (on July 14) and Chelsea this Thursday.
