Nay Pyi Taw: Myanmar defeated Brunei Darussalam 5-0 in their last qualifying Group E match of the AFC U-14 Championship 2014 at Wunna Theik Stadium in Myanmar on Monday.
Midfielder Chan Zaw Hein scored a brace while Htun Sai, Thet Paing Htwe and substitute Zin Min Latt also got on the score-sheet with a goal each for Teshima Atsushi’s side.
Myanmar finished their campaign on six points from five games and settled on fourth spot.
Meanwhile, the winless Bruneians led by head coach Yussof Abdul Rashid finished at the bottom of their group.
Timor Leste, who won four of their five games, emerged as the champions of the group and qualified for the eight-team finals.
In another group, Group F also hosted by Myanmar, Thailand emerged as the leaders boasting a perfect five-out-of-five record and also claimed their ticket to the 2014 finals.
The qualification stage is now complete and all the eight teams contesting for top honours in the inaugural U-14 continental competition are Thailand, Timor Leste, IR Iran, Korea Republic, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, DPR Korea and Iraq.
