Mashhad: Pakistan opened their campaign with a convincing 6-0 win over Turkmenistan in their Group D qualifying match for the AFC U-14 Championship 2014 at Samen Al Aemeh Stadium on Wednesday.
Striker Mohammad Shahid Ali and midfielder Majeed Khan scored a brace while forward Junaid Ahmed and defender Saif Ali scored a goal each for the Muhammad Hassan side during the game whose second half was played under heavy rain.
Pakistan now sit on second spot below pace setting hosts Iran and ahead of India on goal difference.
Turkmenistan, who have lost a game and drawn one, are residing at the bottom of the five-team group.
In a later match that day, India defeated Kyrgyzstan 4-1.
The Pakistanis will resume their campaign on Friday against Kyrgyzstan while Turkmenistan will face Iran.
