Brondby: Newly appointed Iraq coach Vladimir Petrovic has been struggling to find a winning formula as AFC Asian Cup 2007 champions Iraq suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat against South American in-form side Chile in a friendly international match played in Denmark on Wednesday.
Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez and Wigan midfielder Jean Beausejour scored a brace each for Chile. Also to score against the Mesopotamian Lions were Eugenio Mena and Angelo Henriquez.
Iraq had a dismal final round of the FIFA World Cup 2014 Asian Qualifiers where they just accumulated five points from eight matches being the bottom-placed side of Group B from where Japan and Australia qualified as winners and runners-up.
Iraq had struggled to beat Indonesia 1-0 in their only win of the AFC Asian Cup 2015 qualifiers. They are in a strong Group C where the other opponents are China to whom they lost 1-0 while they are yet to play three-time Asian Champions Saudi Arabia. They face the Saudis in October.
