Doha: Bahrain became the third-place winners in the AFC U-14 Girls’ Regional Championship for West Asia after they whipped Qatar 8-0 at the Al Arabi Stadium on Friday.
Skipper Phoebe Victoria scored seven goals while Maya Ashraf Adnan Nureddin Bseisu scored on the 44th minute to help the Bahrainis clinch their second win out of four games in the competition. The winless Qatar finished in fourth place.
Meanwhile, in a later game, Jordan beat Palestine 3-1 to become the champions in the inaugural regional girls’ competition.
The West is the second region to have finished the inaugural regional girls championship, with the first being the South and Central region whose champions are India.
The ASEAN outings in Vietnam and East tournament hosted by China are up next in June.
