Amman: AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has congratulated Jordan football family for the success of the national team and hoped that they will bring more joy to the country by qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Addressing a press conference with FIFA Vice-President and Jordan Football Association President HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Shaikh Salman gave credit of Jordan’s success to HRH Prince Ali saying, “Jordan football has made rapid strides in the recent years and this was possible only because of HRH Prince Ali’s dedication and vision”.
"HRH Prince Ali paved the way for Asian football’s intensive efforts in Social Responsibility as the Chairman of the AFC Social Responsibility Committee and also the Asian Football Development Project. Under his leadership, we have finalised a 10-year strategic development plan in this field,” he said.
Replying to a question on AFC Champions League participation criteria, Shaikh Salman said: “We have to look into the technical development of some countries who wants to play in the ACL. A lot of work needs to be done in developing all AFC competitions and I am hopeful of achieving it for the good of Asian Football.”
Welcoming Shaikh Salman, HRH Prince Ali said: “We would like to welcome Shaikh Salman in Jordan and I would like to stress that we are proud of him becoming the AFC President“
“He wants to work for developing AFC programmes and events, apart from creating more balance between all Member Associations, and we will support him in his mission.”
