Riyadh: Saudi Professional League CEO Mohammed Al-Nowaiser welcomed a Special Mission Team (SMT) from AFC on Tuesday who will be in the kingdom from September 6 to 16 to help its clubs qualify for the next edition of the AFC Champions League (ACL).
Speaking at the commencement of the SMT’s inspection visit, Al-Nowaiser said:
“I’d like to welcome all of you to Saudi Arabia. Today I shall present to you a brief summary of what we have done after the first full inspection in 2010.
“You shall be able to get an idea of what kind of improvements we have made and especially at the end of our meeting today, I would like to brief you about our new e-ticketing system which shall help reduce our expenditures gradually.”
Part of the mission of the SMT is to check club facilities and stadiums to help ensure Saudi Arabian clubs can take part in the upcoming edition of the ACL.
During the visit, the SMT will inspect the following football clubs: Al Qaseem, Al Tawan, Al Raed, Al Faisali, Al Fatah, Hajr and Al Qadisiya.
The SMT will also check the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium, Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz Stadium, Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium, Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium, Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium, Al Akhdood Stadium, Prince Mohammed Stadium, Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium, King Fahd Stadium and Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium.
Al Ittihad are Saudi Arabia’s sole representative in the ACL current edition’s quarterfinal which will start on September 14 and are slated to clash with FC Seoul of Korea Republic.
