Osaka: Big tasks at home await participants of a FIFA Referee Fitness Instructor Course for the East region in Osaka which closed on Thursday.
The course, part of the FIFA Futuro III courses now underway in the Japanese city, started on September 24 and was attended by nine participants.
Vice-Chairman of Japan Football Association’s Referees Committee and AFC Elite Referee Assessor Obata Shin-Ichiro thanked the course instructors and participants.
“I should emphasise to you to share the knowledge when you return to your MA,” he said. “I’m very glad to know the course was very successful.”
AFC representative Ameez Mohamed said the demands for referee fitness instructors are high not only at the MA level but also at the Confederation level.
“Your role is very crucial for the development of referees’ fitness condition,” he said. “Keep informing your status and activities to AFC on a regular basis and have good contact with your Association and work hard to develop refereeing in your country.
“The number of AFC Elite Referee Fitness Instructors is very limited and you have to work hard and to improve your standard to meet the expectation of AFC and we hope you will be one of the members of the AFC Panel of Elite Referee Fitness Instructors soon.”
FIFA/AFC Elite Referee Fitness Instructor Ganesan Maniam, who taught the course, said the course was successful and all of the participants have worked well during the course.
“Please ensure the referees receive proper fitness training under your guidance,” he added. “If referees are fit, they will be close to play and it helps them to make good and convincing decision.
“Share your knowledge and work closely to improve refereeing in Asia. Always think what you can do for the development of referees, not what your MA can do for you.”
FIFA Referee Development Officer and FIFA/AFC Elite Referee Instructor Mohd Rodzali Yacob added: “I am very glad for the good organisation of the course and appreciate JFA and Osaka FA for their kind assistance and support. The staff are very helpful and very supportive in all areas.”
Nicolau Jaime spoke on behalf of the participants: “We are very happy to work with the top FIFA/AFC Referee Fitness Instructors and we have learned a lot from this course.
“We have learned the right methodology in referee fitness training and we sincerely thank Mr. Ganesan and another instructor, AFC Elite Referee Fitness Instructor Mr. Takshi Yamagishi, for their full support and assistance during the course.
“We will use these techniques to develop referees in our country.”
FIFA Member of Referee Committee (Development) and FIFA/AFC Elite Referee Instructor Subkhiddin Mohd Salleh was also present during the courses and closing ceremony.
