Beirut: Twenty-six coaching aspirants recently finished their AFC 'C' Coaching Certificate Course in Lebanon in their quest to become properly certified football coaches.
The 19-day course was held from May 22 was instructed by AFC Coaching Instructor Mazen Mroueh.
Practical sessions were held in the morning at the El Ahed Stadium and Safa SC’s artificial field while the theoretical classes were held in the afternoon in Lebanon’s second ‘C’ course.
The Lebanon Football Association also sent referee instructor Haider Kouleit to lecture on the laws of the game and to hold examinations to test their knowledge.
Lebanon national goalkeeping coach Jihad Mahjoub was called up to give practical demonstrations to the aspiring or new coaches taking part in the course.
The AFC ‘C’ Coaching Certificate course aims at training coaches and developing their basic techniques and skills in football. It is designed to teach the coaches to organise, direct and conduct basic coaching practices targeting especially young players.
The course requires a minimum of 85 hours of study time for both the practical and theoretical sessions. In the final examination, students will be assessed on their practical coaching abilities, knowledge of the laws of the game, in addition to learning and understanding of the theory contents of football.
Holders of the ‘C’ certificate can go on to take higher qualifications, namely the ‘B’ certificate, ‘A certificate and finally the highest coaching qualification in the continent, the AFC Professional Coaching Diploma or Pro Diploma.
