Ho Chi Minh City: Philippines advanced into the semi-finals of the AFC U-14 Girls Regional Championship for the ASEAN region as they pounded Cambodia 5-0 on Thursday.
Last year's fourth place finishers led 1-0 at the half and the half-time break proved fruitful as they came back and added a triple.
Skipper Joyce Omboy Semacio (26’), Itsuko Maree Bacatan (44’), Lindsay Whaley (56’) and substitute Chloe Hails (67’) were all on target for Marnelli Salvador Dimzon’s side.
An own goal by Cambodia’s Meth Mariyan on 55 minutes helped further the Filipinas’ cause in the 70+2 minute game.
The Filipinas finished top of Group A on perfect record of three wins after upsetting hosts and last year’s champions Vietnam 1-0 the previous day at Thong Nhat Stadium.
The Philippines will meet with the runners-up of Group B in the semi-finals on Saturday.
