Ho Chi Minh City: Thailand set up a final encounter with the Philippines in the AFC U-14 Girls Regional Championship (ASEAN) after beating hosts Vietnam 2-0 at Thong Nhat Stadium in Vietnam on Saturday.
Dassama Laochaem opened the scoring on 15 minutes giving the Thais the lead at the half-time break and recording her first goal in the tournament.
Tipkritta Onsamai, who scored two goals in the Thais’ 5-0 drubbing of Myanmar on Thursday, doubled the lead as she converted her penalty kick on 54 minutes.
The win gave the Thais the ticket for the final match against the Philippines who defeated Myanmar 2-1 in Saturday’s other semi-final match.
Last year's champions Vietnam will lock horns with Myanmar in the third-place meeting at 4pm local time while the Thailand-Philippines final match will take place at 6.30pm, Sunday.
