Amman: Jordan consolidated their top position in the AFC U-14 Girls Regional Championship for the West region after downing Bahrain 4-0 at Petra Stadium in Jordan’s capital city on Tuesday.
The Jordanians went into the game already winners of the championship, their second title after winning the inaugural edition which they had also hosted last year.
Manar Mustafa Ahmad Fraij-led Jordan took the lead as Yasmeen Muawieh H. Zabian scored on 25 minutes followed by their second goal by Rama Feras Ahmad Al Qadi eight minutes later.
Skipper and the match’s eventual MVP Tasneem Yasin Abdel Rahman Abu Rob took the lead further after 45 minutes before substitute Aseel Ahmad Ibrahim Al Kawaja who came on the 48th-minute mark put the lid on the scoring four minutes before the final whistle.
Jordan became the only side in the five-team regional tournament with all-wins in their campaign while Bahrain collected a win from their four matches.
Khaled Hassan Taleb’s Bahrain finished fourth, down from their third-place finishing last year.
