Dubai: The UAE extended their winless streak to five games on Tuesday as they lost 4-0 to fellow AFC Asian Cup 2015 contenders Uzbekistan at the Dubai Club Stadium.
The Uzbeks went into the break two goals to the good after Timur Kapadze had opened the scoring on 30 minutes before an own goal by Mohanad Salem doubled the Central Asians’ lead just before the interval.
Server Djeparov made it 3-0 after 68 minutes before Navruzbek Olimov registered his first international goal five minutes into stoppage time.
The defeat follows draws against Norway, Lithuania and Paraguay, as well as last Friday's 0-0 with Australia.
The game against the Uzbeks was the Emiratis’ last match before they kick off their Gulf Cup of Nations campaign against Oman on November 14.
At the Asian Cup they are in Group C along with Iran, Bahrain and Qatar and will take on the Qataris in their first match on January 11.
Uzbekistan will commence their Asian Cup campaign by facing off against DPR Korea on January 10 in Group B which is completed by Saudi Arabia and China.
