Bandar Sunway: Football industry experts are set to convene for the inaugural regional edition of the World Football Summit Asia (WFSA) on Monday.
The two day summit, With the theme ‘Where The Asian Football Industry Meets’, will cover a wide array of topics on sponsorships, partnerships, broadcasting, digital growth, strategic development and many more, presented by over 70 influential speakers from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), FIFA and prominent clubs such as Valencia CF and FC Barcelona.
AFC General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John, Football Association of Malaysia President Dato’ Hamidin bin Mohd Amin, Rick Hathaway and Thomas Dooley from the Habitat for Humanity International will share the main stage to deliver the opening ceremony, before a roundtable session on ‘The Importance of Asia for the Global Football Industry’ takes place immediately after, featuring representatives from Bundesliga, Juventus FC and Rakuten.
Towards the end of the first day, four legends from LaLiga - Fernando Sanz, Christian Karembeu, Gaizka Mendieta and Fernando Morientes - will discuss and share their experience of being part of the best league in the world, and how their careers have progressed off the pitch.
Additionally, WFSS will be hosting the first edition of the Asian StartCup, co-organised with Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) and the Global Sports Innovation Centre powered by Microsoft (GSIC), where seven sports-tech startups will pitch their idea to the Jury and attendees of the summit on the second day.
On top of benefitting from the highly-engaging presentations, the main objective of the summit is to establish a hub for the Asian Football Industry, and at the same time provide a platform for football professionals to network and generate business opportunities through the Networking and Expo area.
Some of the influential figures who are due to speak during the summit include La Liga President Javier Tebas, Chairman of MFL HRH Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and FIFA’s Chief Digital Transformation and Innovation Officer Luis Vicente.
