Qualifiers - Group B: Japan edge Korea Republic for Finals spot
Ordos: Japan overcame a resilient Korea Republic side with a 4-2 victory to seal their place in the AFC Futsal Championship Turkmenistan 2020 Finals after finishing top of Group B of the East Zone Qualifiers.
Japan will be making their 16th appearance in the Finals, while Korea Republic will need to play the Group A runners-up, to be decided later on Thursday, in a play-off match, with the winners securing their ticket to Turkmenistan 2020 next February.
Qualifiers - Group A: China PR cruise, Mongolia hold Chinese Taipei
Ordos: China PR are one point away from sealing a place in the AFC Futsal Championship Turkmenistan 2020 Finals while Mongolia came from behind to deny Chinese Taipei a win in Group A of the East Zone Qualifiers on Wednesday.
China cruised past Hong Kong 5-0 while Chinese Taipei squandered a 4-1 lead and had to settle for a 4-4 draw with Mongolia.
Chinese Taipei, on four points, play China - who have two wins - on Thursday needing a win to seal top spot which will assure them a place in Turkmenistan 2020.
The two group winners will gain direct qualification to the 2020 Finals, with the second placed teams meeting in a play-off to determine the third side through from the East Zone.
Qualifiers - Group A: Tajikistan, Uzbekistan charge out of the blocks
Urmiya: Tajikistan and Uzbekistan began their respective AFC Futsal Championship Turkmenistan 2020 qualifying campaigns in dominant fashion, charging out of the blocks with comprehensive wins as Group A began at Ghadir Hall on Wednesday.
Tajikistan netted three goals in each half in their 6-0 win over Nepal, while perennial contenders Uzbekistan defeated Afghanistan 6-2 in the later match.
The top two teams from Groups A and B will qualify for Turkmenistan 2020 from the Central and South Zone Qualifiers. However, should Turkmenistan - who are in Group B - occupy one of the top two positions, the best third-placed team from either group will qualify.
Urmiya: 12-time champions Islamic Republic of Iran got their AFC Futsal Championship title defence off to a winning start, earning a 4-0 win over Turkmenistan in the opening Central and South Zone Group B Qualifier at Ghadir Hall on Wednesday.
Three Iranian players got on the scoresheet in addition to an own goal from Turkmenistan’s Gurbangeldi Sahedov as the home crowd was treated to a commanding display from the team ranked five in the world.
The result puts Iran of the verge of qualifying for next year’s Finals with two games remaining in the group.
Group B: Indonesia, Vietnam saunter into semi-finals
Ho Chi Minh: Indonesia defeated Australia to seal top spot in Group B of the AFF Futsal Championship Vietnam 2019 while Vietnam finished second on goal difference after beating Malaysia at the Phu Tho Stadium on Wednesday.
Both finished on seven points but Indonesia's superior goal difference means they will play Myanmar in Friday's semi-finals while hosts Vietnam will have to battle defending champions Thailand.
The top three teams from the AFF Futsal Championship Vietnam 2019 will advance to the AFC Futsal Championship Turkmenistan 2020 next February.
