Pathum Thani:  Thailand will face arguably their sternest test of the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 to date when they take on Korea Republic in the quarter-finals on Sunday. 

It is only the third time that the hosts have made it to the knockout stage in 12 tournament appearances and their first since 1998, when they won their sole title.
 
Their opponents, on the other hand, have progressed from the group stage for the 10th time in 15 involvements, going on to lift the trophy in 1986 and 2002.

Pathum Thani: It was not pretty, but Uzbekistan got the job done on Friday with a 1-0 win against Vietnam to seal a place in the last eight of the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023.

A goal from Shodiyor Shodiboev in the 24th minute clinched three points and second place in Group D at the Thammasat Stadium, which confirmed their seventh knockout stage qualification in their 10th tournament appearance.

Japan’s 8-4 victory over India in the other match saw them progress as group winners due to a superior goal difference.

Bangkok: While delighted with their stunning 8-4 win over India in their final AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Thailand 2023 Group D tie on Friday, Japan head coach Yoshiro Moriyama said that his focus had already moved on to ensuring a swift and complete recovery of his squad.

Japan finished their group stage campaign as toppers and will face Australia in the quarter-finals on Monday.
