Qualifiers - Group G: China PR, Indonesia in decider
Jakarta: China PR and Indonesia collected three more valuable points in Group G of the AFC U-16 Championship 2020 Qualifiers, after beating Northern Mariana Islands (NMI) and Brunei Darussalam respectively on Friday.
Indonesia turned on the power in the second half to beat Brunei 8-0, while China were unstoppable as they found the back of the net 15 times against NMI to top the group with nine points on goal difference.
The two will face off in the final Group G tie on Sunday for the automatic ticket to the Finals.
Qualifiers - Group I: Hong Kong, DPR Korea stay perfect
Singapore: Hong Kong defeated Guam 4-1 while DPR Korea cruised to a 6-1 win against Singapore as the two teams recorded their second straight triumphs in Group I of the AFC U-16 Championship 2020 Qualifiers at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore on Thursday.
The wins set up an enticing Matchday 3 clash between Hong Kong, who defeated Singapore 2-1 on Matchday One, and DPR Korea, who downed Guam 16-1 in their opener, on Saturday.
Qualifiers - Group K: Korea Republic, Thailand show their class
Yangon: Lee Kyu-dong scored a hat-trick to steer Korea Republic to an emphatic 10-0 win over Chinese Taipei, while Niphitphon Wongpanya's brace powered Thailand to a 4-0 win over Myanmar in Group K of the AFC U-16 Championship 2020 Qualifiers at the Thuwanna Stadium on Wednesday.
Chinese Taipei simply had no answer for the East Asians as Korea Republic led 3-0 at the break before turning on the power in the second half for an emphatic start to their qualifying campaign.
Thailand were too strong for Myanmar as the young War Elephants raced to a 3-0 lead by half-time before finishing the job.
Qualifiers - Group J: Japan, Malaysia impress in openers
Vientiane: Japan began the defence of their AFC U-16 Championship title with a 4-0 win over Laos while Malaysia registered an emphatic 7-0 triumph over Cambodia in Group J qualifying for the 2020 Finals at the National Stadium in Vientiane on Wednesday.
Japan, who defeated Tajikistan to lift the 2018 title, were simply too strong for hosts Laos while Cambodia had no answer to Malaysia's fast paced game.
