Kuala Lumpur: The eight team line-up for the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2017 is now complete after Laos and Korea Republic became the last two teams to advance to the finals following the conclusion of the qualifying competition on Monday.
The AFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2017 line-up will now consist of hosts Thailand, Laos, Korea Republic, Bangladesh and Australia, as well as direct entrants and the top three finishers in the 2015 edition – DPR Korea, Japan and China.
Thailand finished top of qualifying Group A and since they are the hosts of the tournament proper, the ticket to the finals was grabbed by the group’s second-placed team Laos.
Korea Republic also punched their ticket as they concluded their qualifying campaign top of Group B after thrashing India 7-0 on Monday.
Bangladesh had claimed their spot in the finals before their last game in Group C against the UAE who they beat 4-0 also on Monday, completing their qualifying campaign with a perfect record.
Australia rounded off their highly impressive qualifying campaign with a 9-1 defeat of Uzbekistan last Saturday to finish top of Group D with five wins from as many matches.
