Chonburi: Thailand will make the most of their status as the 2019 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship hosts according to head coach Kaenson Naruephon, who urged local fans to throw their support behind his young players.
Naruephon’s comments came after the tournament’s official draw on Thursday, where Thailand were placed alongside Australia, Bangladesh and three-time champions Japan in what looms as a hotly-contested Group A.
Meanwhile, 2017 finalists DPR Korea and Korea Republic will meet in Group B, which also includes China PR and Vietnam.

Chonburi: A new generation of Asian women’s football stars have learned their AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 opponents, after the competition’s official draw was held at Chonburi's Oakwood Hotel on Thursday.
Defending champions DPR Korea are set for a mouth-watering clash with fellow heavyweights Korea Republic after they were drawn alongside their East Asian neighbours, as well as China PR and Vietnam in Group B.
The September 22 clash between DPR Korea and Korea Republic will be a repeat of the 2017 final, where a starring performance from Kim Kyong-yong led DPR Korea to a 2-0 win
Elsewhere, Thailand will meet three-time winners Japan along with Australia and Bangladesh in Group A.

Kuala Lumpur: Australia and Vietnam sealed their spots in the Finals following the final day of the 2019 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifier Round 2 Group A action at the National Stadium in Vientiane, Laos on Thursday.
Australia claimed maximum points after securing a 3-0 win over Laos to finish top of Group A, while Vietnam took second place after sharing the spoils with Islamic Republic of Iran in a 0-0 stalemate.
Laos finished third ahead of IR Iran.

Vientiane: Australia and Laos secured wins after defeating Vietnam and Islamic Republic of Iran respectively in Group A action of the 2019 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifier Round 2 at the National Stadium in Vientiane, Laos on Tuesday.
Laos, who lost 1-0 to Vietnam on Matchday One, will need to beat Australia in their final match on Thursday to keep their hopes alive.
Vietnam can also advance if they beat Iran, setting the stage for an exciting final matchday.
