Doha: Yemen saw off a determined Turkmenistan, while Qatar showed their class in a comprehensive win over Sri Lanka as Group B of the AFC U-19 Championship Uzbekistan 2020 Qualifiers got underway on Wednesday.
Yemen’s terrific start helped them to a 2-0 win over Turkmenistan, while Qatar powered past Sri Lanka 5-1 thanks, in part, to a double from striker Mekki Tombari.
Qualifiers - Group D: UAE and Islamic Republic of Iran cruise
Tehran: United Arab Emirates and Islamic Republic of Iran made positive starts to their AFC U-19 Championship Uzbekistan 2020 Group D qualifying campaigns following a 4-0 win over Nepal and 3-0 victory over Kyrgyz Republic respectively at the PAS Stadium on Wednesday.
The UAE were hardly troubled as they took a 2-0 lead going into the break before completing the job in the second half while Iran turned on the power in the second half to see off a gritty Kyrgyz Republic.
Qualifiers - Group E: Perfect starts for Jordan, Bahrain
Manama: Jordan and group hosts Bahrain both made terrific starts to their AFC U-19 Championship Uzbekistan qualifying campaigns, earning 3-0 wins over Bhutan and Bangladesh respectively at Khalifa Sports City Stadium on Wednesday.
A blistering opening half-hour powered Jordan to victory, while two goals from Abdulrahman Sayed Mohamed helped Bahrain to a commanding win in the later match.
Qualifiers - Group G: Thailand, Malaysia score resounding wins
Phnom Penh: Thailand and Malaysia produced breathtaking form as they scored emphatic wins in Group G of qualifying for the AFC U-19 Championship Uzbekistan 2020 at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh on Wednesday.
Thailand raced to a 21-0 win over Northern Mariana Islands while Malaysia defeated Brunei Darussalam 11-0 as both teams recorded their second victories in the five-team Group G.
