Bangkok: Vietnam began their tilt for glory at the AFC U-20 Futsal Championship with a bang on Wednesday as they defeated Tajikistan 4-2 in a Group B encounter at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium.
Having seen Tajikistan lose to Indonesia on Matchday One, Vietnam began the match in fine fashion as goals from Pham Van Nguyen and Vu Ngoc Lan gave them a two-goal advantage within the first five minutes.
Tajikistan duly reduced the deficit on eight minutes through Iqboli Vositzoda’s strike, and then sensationally drew themselves level early in the second half when captain Fayzali Sardorov netted.
It was not to be however for Tajikistan, as Tu Minh Quang bagged what would prove to be a crucial winner for Vietnam in the 36th minute.
