Petra: Seyedeh Tanin Naraghi scored six times as Iran kicked-off their 2013 AFC U-19 Women's Championship Qualification Round One Group B campaign with an emphatic 12-2 triumph over Tajikistan on Thursday.
Midfielder Mogharrab Zadhossein opened the floodgates with just four minutes at the Petra Stadium played before a Naraghi hat-trick (10th, 18th, 31st) and goals from Sara Zohrabina (25th) and skipper Maryam Rahimi (38th pen) gave the Iranians 6-0 lead with half-time approaching.
Tajikistan had the final say of the first-half with midfielder Sharifzoda Mehrangezi reducing the deficit one minute into stoppage time but Iran's dominance continued after the interval with Rahimi completing her hat-trick with two goals (47th and 50th) in a three minute spell shortly after the restart before Naraghi netted another treble (58th, 76th and 78th) to take the score to 11-1.
Defender Laylo Khalimova scored Tajikistan's second goal a minute after Naraghi had taken her individual tally to six but it was scant consolation for the Central Asians who conceded their 12th goal one minute into second-half stoppage-time when substitute Samaneh Ghashieh, who replaced Zadhossein on the half-hour mark, got her name on the scoresheet.
The top two sides in each of the three groups will advance to Qualification Round 2 where they will join Thailand and Vietnam. The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four and play a round-robin league in a centralised format with the top two teams meeting in a play-off to determine who advances to next year's AFC U-19 Women's Championship.
