Sydney: FFA (Football Federation of Australia) Technical Director Han Berger has labeled the introduction of the AFC U-22 Asian Cup as "great opportunity' for young Australia players to gain invaluable experience in the international arena.
Tuesday's draw for the qualifying stage of the inaugural tournament saw Australia's under 22 side pooled in Group E alongside Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Macau and Timor Leste.
"It's very exciting for us to be a part of this exciting new international competition in Asia," Berger said in an FFA media release.
"The next edition of this tournament will be even more important as it will serve as the qualifiers for the 2016 Brazil Olympic Games.
"This competition is another great opportunity for our players to get valuable experience in an international tournament against quality opposition."
