Bangkok: Two-goal hero Nicholas D’Agostino has tipped Australia to go all the way after the Olyroos defeated Thailand 2-1 in their AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 Group A tie on Saturday.
Australia, who had played to a 1-1 draw with Iraq on Matchday One, found themselves trailing to Anon Amornlerdsak’s 24th minute strike but displayed great determination to bounce back with goals from D’Agostino in the 43rd and 76th minutes.
The win was achieved in front of 22,000 Thailand fans at the Rajamangala Stadium and took Australia to pole position in Group A.

Bangkok: Head coach Graham Arnold has praised the character of his Australia team after they sensationally came from behind to beat Thailand 2-1 and move to within touching distance of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 quarter-finals.
Perth Glory striker Nicholas D'Agostino was on hand to score either side of half-time as Australia followed up their opening day draw against Iraq with a priceless three-point haul that has moved them to the top of the Group A standings.

Bangkok: Australia edged to within touching distance of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 quarter-finals as two goals from Nicholas D'Agostino helped them secure a hard-fought 2-1 win over Thailand on Saturday.
Nicholas D'Agostino scored either side of the break to secure his side’s victory, one that, coupled with Bahrain’s draw with Iraq earlier in the day, leaves Australia leading the way in Group A and needing only a draw against the Bahrainis on Matchday Three to guarantee their place in the last eight.
The result, meanwhile, saw Thailand drop to second with Akira Nishino's charges now requiring a point from Tuesday's encounter with Iraq to advance.

Bangkok: Iraq head coach Abdulghani Shahad blamed poor finishing for his side’s inability to pick up all three points from their meeting with Bahrain on Saturday as a host of missed chances saw them draw 2-2 with their fellow West Asians at the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020.
Mohamed Qasim rescued his side for the second game in a row as he came off the bench to score an added time equaliser to ensure the Iraqis go into their final game against Thailand on Tuesday knowing a win over the hosts will take them through to the quarter-finals.

Bangkok: Mohamed Qasim struck for the second game in a row as he came off the bench once again to earn Iraq a point as Abdulghani Shahad’s side twice came back from going behind to earn a 2-2 draw with Bahrain in Group A of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 on Saturday.
Qasim had netted against Australia in Iraq’s opening game to secure a draw and he did the same again – but in more dramatic fashion – when he denied Bahrain all three points with an injury time header at Thammasat Stadium.
Mohamed Marhoon looked to have secured Bahrain the win when he put Bahrain in front for the second time in the game three minutes from time with a diving header as the game exploded into life in the dying minutes.

Songkhla: A habitual trophy-winner at world famous clubs as a player, and a European champion as a head coach, Ljubinko Drulovic is hoping his wide catalogue of footballing experiences can propel Uzbekistan to a first-ever Olympic Games appearance at the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020.
Before Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo rewired football’s statistical parameters in the 2010s, a player scoring 50 goals in a single season was usually confined to comic books and computer games, except in the case of Mario Jardel.

Songkhla: Korea Republic super-sub Lee Dong-jun revealed his long-term connection to teammate Kim Jin-gyu, after the pair teamed up for an injury-time winner against China PR in their opening AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 clash on Thursday.
Both Lee and Kim started the match on the bench, but made their presence felt in the third and final minute of stoppage time, with Kim’s defence-splitting long pass creating the opportunity for Lee, who showed skill and poise to cut inside Chinese defender Dilimulati Maolaniyazi before delivering the match-winning blow.
Both players also arrived in Thailand having just helped Busan IPark to promotion to the top-flight of Korean football, but Lee, 22, told the-AFC.com their partnership goes back to their mid-teens.
