The Olyroos went into the last four tie at the Pakhtakor Stadium aiming to make the final for the first time but had to concede defeat to Saudi Arabia, who scored through Hussain Al Eisa and Ayman Yahya to seal a second successive appearance in the decider.
Making things worse for Australia was Jay Rich-Baghuelo’s sending off in the 39th minute, with Saudi Arabia leading 1-0 at that stage.
