Hanoi: Vietnam left it late to secure a 1-0 win over a resilient Indonesia, while Thailand's buildup to the 2020 AFC U23 Championship continued impressively as they beat Brunei Darussalam 8-0 on Matchday Two of Group K on Sunday.
Vietnam and Thailand are now tied on six points after two consecutive wins and will face off on Tuesday to decide the group winners.
Thailand, however, are through by virtue of being the host for the Finals, and in the event the young War Elephants finish as group winners, Vietnam would need to advance as one of the best five second-placed finishers instead.
Qualifiers - Group B: Bahrain, Palestine set for thrilling decider
Manama: Bahrain and Palestine will square off on Tuesday to decide who gets the automatic ticket from Group B of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 Qualifiers after both registered wins on Sunday.
Both West Asian teams will head into the deciding tie needing a win as they are not only tied on six points but also on goal difference after having beaten Bangladesh and Sri Lanka with identical scores.
Palestine, having defeated Sri Lanka 9-0 on Matchday One, beat Bangladesh 1-0 on Sunday. Bahrain matched Palestine's result as they shipped nine past Sri Lanka, having had to work hard to see off Bangladesh 1-0 on Friday.
Qualifiers - Group C: IR Iran, Iraq to decide group winners
Tehran: Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq will face off on Tuesday to decide the winners of Group C of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 Qualifiers after registering convincing wins on Matchday Two.
TURKMENISTAN 0-2 IRAQ
Iraq had opened their campaign with a 5-0 win over Yemen on Matchday 1 while Turkmenistan had suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iraq, champions of the inaugural edition in 2013, started the better of the two on Sunday and their early pressing paid off at the PAS Stadium in Tehran as forward Murad Mohammed Subeh, who scored twice in the win over Yemen, gave them the lead in the 17th minute.
Qualifiers - Group G: DPR Korea, Hong Kong edge closer
Ulaanbaatar: DPR Korea came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Singapore, while Hong Kong claimed their first victory on Matchday Two of the AFC U-23 Championship Thailand 2020 Qualifiers at the MFF Stadium on Sunday.
DPR Korea and Hong Kong are tied with four points apiece, followed by Singapore who have now settled for two draws in two matches.
The East Asians face Hong Kong in their final qualifying match, while Singapore will have to beat Mongolia on Tuesday to keep their hopes alive.
Qualifiers - Group H: Australia, Korea Republic close in on Finals
Phnom Penh: Australia and Korea Republic each scored six goals in wins over Chinese Taipei and Cambodia respectively on Matchday Two of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 Qualifiers at Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
Australia and Korea Republic are both level on top of the standings after collecting their second wins and Graham Arnold’s charges will play the Koreans on Tuesday, while Chinese Taipei take on Cambodia.
Yangon: Myanmar and Japan set up a mouthwatering clash after beating Macau and Timor-Leste respectively on Matchday Two of their AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2019 Group I qualifying campaigns on Sunday.
Myanmar are tied with Japan on six points but sit second in the standings on goal difference, and will face the young Samurai Blue on Tuesday in their last match where a win will secure their place in Finals.
