AFC U23 ASIAN CUP QATAR 2024™ TRIVIA CHALLENGE TERMS & CONDITIONS

Please read these terms and conditions for the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024™ Trivia Challenge quiz contest (“Contest”) prior to participating (the “Contest Terms”). 

 

By participating in the Contest, you hereby agree to be bound by these Contest Terms (and any amendments thereof) and represent and warrant that you satisfy all the eligibility requirements set out herein.

 

This Contest is organised by the Asian Football Confederation (“AFC”) in conjuction with the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2024™ (“Competition”). Any queries relating to the Contest shall be directed to the AFC only at asiancup.contest@the-afc.com.

 

1.1.             Entry to the Contest is open to all individuals who are eighteen (18) years of age and above as of 9th April 2024 (each, a “Participant”). Participants should be aware that a breach of this age requirement will result in the participant being automatically disqualified. 

1.2.             Directors, officers, employees and committee members of the AFC, its commercial partners, agents, external service providers (related to this Contest) and immediate families of each respective party are not eligible to participate in the Contest.

1.3.             The Contest is open to parties who reside in countries where entry in prize competitions of the nature set out herein is not a breach of their respective local laws.

 

2.1.             To participate in the Contest, Participants are required to register an account at http://the-afc.com/u23trivia on the AFC Live App, with such information as may be required by the AFC, including the following information (each such registration, an “Account”):

(a)   first and last name;

(b)   email address;

(c)   date of birth;

(d)   place of residence; and

(e)   such other information as requested by the AFC. 

2.2.             Each Participant shall only be allowed to participate once, using only one (1) registration Account. The AFC reserves the right to disqualify a Participant if it is found that the Participants are the same individual who has participated multiple times using multiple different Accounts. 

2.3.             All details provided by the Participants during registration must be true, accurate and complete. 

2.4.             The use of third-party data, names or nicknames which are considered indecent and/or offensive is strictly prohibited.

2.5.             Participants shall be solely responsible for all activities conducted on their respective Account and shall ensure that all Account details are kept confidential to avoid misuse or abuse by any third parties.

 

3.1.             The Contest shall be organised from 13:00, 9th April 2024 to 18:59, 24th April 2024 in accordance with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3) (UTC+3). (“Contest Period”).

3.2.             The Contest will be split into two (2) rounds with Round 1: AFC U23 Asian Cup Historic Challenge commencing for a period of six (6) days from 09:00, 9th April 2024 to 18:59, 14th April 2024 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). Round 2: AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024™ Group Stage Trivia will commence for a period of five (5) days from 12:00, 24th April 2024 to 18:59, 28th April 2024 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3).

3.3.             Participants may register by creating an Account at any time during the Contest Period. 

 

4.1.             For each round, Participants will be required to answer a series of five (5) multiple-choice questions, designed to test their skills and knowledge of the Competition, the participating teams and players (each, a "Contest Question”). 

4.2.             Participants will also be tested for speed in answering Contest Questions, and will therefore be recorded for time. For each Participant, the timer will commence when they attempt the first Contest question, and will end upon the answer for the final Contest Question being submitted by the Participant. 

4.3.             Each set of five (5) answers to the five (5) Contest Questions in each round of the Contest will be considered an “Entry”. All Entries must be submitted before the end of the relevant round during the Contest Period. 

4.4.             Participants may not change their Entry once submitted. Participants will only be entitled to submit one (1) Entry for each Contest round from their registered given Account. 

4.5.             Any Entries received after the end of the relevant round during the Contest Period will not be entertained. AFC shall not be responsible for Entries received late or lost in transmission due to any reason. Participants are therefore encouraged to register and submit their Entries well before the published deadlines.

4.6.             Participants may also be required to select more than one (1) answer for certain question(s).

 

5.1.             Participants will be ranked on the basis of the number of correct answers to Contest Questions in their Entry and the time taken to submit their respective Entry. Accordingly, the Participant who has answered the most number Contest Questions correctly in their Entry will be ranked highest. 

5.2.             If two (2) or more Participants have answered the same number of Contest Questions correctly in their Entry, then the Participant that has taken the shortest time to submit their Entry (recorded in the manner described in Clause 4.2) will be ranked higher. 

5.3.             If two (2) or more Participants have answered the same number of Contest Questions correctly in their Entry, and have taken the same amount of time to submit their Entries, then the earlier of such Participants to have submitted their Entry during the Contest Period will be ranked higher. By way of example, if Participant A has five (5) correct answers to Contest Questions in their Entry and submitted their Entry in 45 seconds on 9th April 2024, and Participant B has five (5) correct answers to Contest Questions in their Entry and submitted their Entry in 45 seconds on 10th April 2024, then Participant A will be ranked higher than Participant B, since their entry was submitted earlier during the Contest Period (i.e., 9th April 2024). 

5.4.             No leader board showing the rank of each Participant will be made publicly available by the AFC. The AFC reserves the right to rank the Participants based on the criteria set out above and no correspondence or objections in this regard will be entertained. The decision of the AFC in this regard will be final. 

 

6.1.             There will be a total of (2) winners in this Contest, with one (1) winner from each Contest round. The Participant who is ranked highest (i.e., no. 1) based on the ranking criteria set out in Clause 5, will be declared the winner of the Contest (“Winner”). 

6.2.             The AFC reserves the right to select the Winner based on the ranking criteria set out in Clause 5. The decision of the AFC will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into with any Participants in this regard. Should the Entries in any category fall below the standard required by the Contest, then the AFC reserves the right not to declare any Winner.

6.3.             The Winner will be contacted by the AFC by email, on the email address submitted as part of the Account registration process. 

6.4.             If a Participant has been declared a Winner with respect to one Contest round, then he/she shall be ineligible to be declared the Winner with respect to the other Contest round. 

6.5.             The AFC reserves the right to declare additional winners of the Contest based on the ranking criteria set out in Clause 5 and award such additional winners such prizes as the AFC may determine in its sole discretion. The AFC’s decision in this regard shall be final and binding on all Participants.

 

7.1              The Winner will be awarded one (1) Official Competition Match Jersey of a participating team as determined by the AFC (the “Prize”).

7.2              To claim the Prize, the Winner will be responsible for sharing their correct address and contact information with the AFC once contacted by the AFC’s representatives.

7.3              The Winner shall be responsible for any local taxes and any other expenses relating to the Prize not specifically mentioned herein, including any travel and accommodation expenses to the match. The Prize shall not be transferable or redeemable for cash. 

7.4              No substitution of the Prize shall be allowed except that the AFC may, at its sole discretion, substitute any element of the Prize at any time. 

7.5              The Prize cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion or offer.

7.6              The Prize has to be validly claimed by the Winner within seven (7) days from when the AFC contacts such Winner (as described in Clause 6.3), after which the Prize will be forfeited, or at the AFC’s discretion, an alternate winner will be selected.

              

8.1.             The AFC may share your personal data with affiliates of the AFC or with other third parties for administrative and/or business purposes.This may involve the storage, use, disclosure or other processing, or transfer of your personal data out of Malaysia or within Malaysia. Third parties receiving your personal data will be bound by requirements under the applicable Personal Data Protection legislation. 

8.2.             By participating in this Contest, you hereby consent to: (a) the collection, use, disclosure, transfer, and processing of your personal data for the purposes ofadministering the Contest and selecting the Winner; (b) the AFC’s privacy policy (available at https://assets.the-afc.com/Misc/Privacy-Policy-for-the-AFC.com-and-AFC-Live-App.pdf and the AFC’s Personal Data Protection Notice (PDPA) (available at: https://assets.the-afc.com/2024_AFC_U23_Asian_Cup/Downloads/Others/AFC-U23-Asian-Cup-Qatar-2024-Trivia-Challenge_T&Cs.pdf; and (c) the AFC’s terms of service (available at https://www.the-afc.com/en/legal/terms__conditions.html). 

 

9.1.                By entering the Contest, each Participant agrees to be bound by these Contest Terms and by decisions of the AFC, which are final and binding as to all Contest-related matters. 

9.2.                By entering this Contest and/or accepting any Prize you may win, you agree that: (a) you have all rights, permissions and consents necessary to grant the rights to AFC as expressed herein; (b) you will abide by and be bound by the Contest Terms and the AFC’s decision and any policies in relation thereto; (c) you  release and hold harmless the AFC, its commercial agents and suppliers, and their respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents or representatives from any and all liability for claims, injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including without limitation, death and bodily injury, resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your entry submission, the awarding, delivery, acceptance, use, misuse, possession, loss or misdirection of any Prize; participation in the Contest or any Contest-related activity or from any interaction with, or downloading of, computer Contest information.

9.3.             The Prize is awarded on an ‘as is’ basis and shall be without warranty of any kind, express or implied (including, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose) and the AFC does not make any representation, warranty, or guarantee, express or implied, relating to the Contest or the Prize. 

9.4.             A Winner’s acceptance of a Prize constitutes the grant to AFC of an unconditional right to use, and authorise the AFC’s commercial partners to use, the winner's name, profile, image, voice, likeness, photograph, biographical and prize information and/or statements about the Contest for any programming, publicity, advertising, and promotional purposes without additional compensation, except where it is prohibited by law.

9.5.             In the event of circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the AFC such as without limitation viruses, bugs, unauthorised human intervention, acts of God, acts or regulations of any governmental or supra-national authority, war, national emergency, accident, fire, riot, strikes, lock-outs, industrial disputes, acts of terrorism , pandemic, epidemic, situations beyond control that would affect the security, fairness or proper play of the Contest, so that it cannot be conducted as originally planned, except where prohibited by law, the AFC has the right, in its sole discretion, to modify these Contest Terms or to cancel, modify, terminate or suspend the Contest; and in such event, to select the Winner by such method as the AFC may in its sole discretion consider equitable. 

9.6.             By participating in the Contest, each Participant agrees that: (a) the AFC shall not be responsible for typographical or other errors in the offer or administration of this Contest, including without limitation any errors in the advertising, Contest Terms, selection of the Winner, and distribution of the prize; (b) any portion of any Prize not accepted or used by a Winner will be forfeited; (c) the AFC  is not responsible for any inability of a Winner to accept or use a Prize (or any portion thereof) for any reason; and (d) the AFC shall not be liable financially in any aspect to the Winner and the Participants. The Participant also agrees that they shall not make the following statements regarding the AFC and/or the contest: (a) make inappropriate, illegal or offensive statements regarding the AFC and/or the Contest, (b) make religiously, culturally or politically insensitive statements, (c) defamatory or libellous statement, and (d) statements likely to tarnish the image and reputation of the AFC, its competition and stakeholders.

9.7.             The AFC has the right, at any time and at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it suspects to be doing any of the following: (a) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or the Application; (b) violating the Contest Terms; (c) violating the terms of service or other terms, conditions of use and/or general rules or guidelines of any AFC website, property or service; (d) acting in an unsportsmanlike, unethical or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person or (e) for any other good cause as determined solely by the AFC.

9.8.             As any attempt by any individual to damage the application or undermine the legitimate operations of this Contest or the application is a violation of these Contest Terms as well as criminal and civil laws, and should the AFC believe or become aware that such an attempt has been, is being, or will be made, it has the right to seek remedies and damages from any responsible individuals to the fullest extent permitted by law, including without limitation criminal prosecution.

9.9.             This Contest is governed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. All disputes, claims and causes of action at law or in equity (individually, “Claim”) arising out of or relating to this Contest, the meaning or interpretation of the Rules or any prize awarded shall be resolved by applying the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict of laws provisions therein, and shall be solely and exclusively brought in the state or federal courts within Malaysia.

9.10.         All claims shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event include attorneys’ fees, and under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, special, consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses and waives all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.

9.11.         The AFC has the right to modify Prize award procedures at its sole discretion and shall not be responsible for the cancellation, postponement, or unavailability of any Prize, and if such occurs, the Prize may be substituted with an alternate prize (as determined by the AFC in its sole discretion).

9.12.         The AFC is not responsible for any changes to any function that may interfere with the Contest or your ability to timely participate in the same.

9.13.         The AFC is not responsible for any failure of delivery of Winner notification.

9.14.         The AFC reserves the right at any time in its absolute discretion and without prior notice to: (a) to cancel, modify, suspend or delay the Contest; (b) to make changes to these Contest Terms, whereupon all Participants be bound by the terms and conditions as varied by the AFC; and/or (c) to substitute, withdraw or cancel any Prize without disclosing any reason thereof and without any payment or compensation whatsoever. 

9.15.         These Contest Terms have been prepared in the English language, which language shall govern the interpretation and construction of these Contest Terms. Any translation of these Contest Terms shall be for reference purposes only, and the English language version shall always prevail in the case of any inconsistencies between the English language version and any translations thereof.
