Stage set for AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 Qualifiers
Kuala Lumpur: The hopefuls for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022 learnt of their opponents following the conclusion of the draw for the Qualifiers at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.
The 28 teams were drawn into four groups of four and four groups of three, with the winners of each group clinching their place in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022, scheduled to take place from January 20 to February 6.
Defending champions Japan, 2018 runners-up Australia and third-placed China PR as well as hosts India have already qualified for the Finals, which will see an expanded 12 teams competing for the continent's premier women's national team title.

Kuala Lumpur: Asian football legend Ali Daei has congratulated Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portugal star scored his 109th goal in Wednesday's Euro 2020 game against France to equal the former Islamic Republic of Iran striker's all-time international record.
The 36-year-old Ronaldo, the leading scorer in European Championship history, converted his second penalty of the game in Budapest to match the record in his 178th international appearance.
Daei scored a remarkable 109 goals in 149 appearances for Iran between 1993 and 2006, an achievement many thought would never be matched.
Chan shifts Lee Man's focus to Tainan after opening AFC Cup win
Hong Kong: Head coach Chan Hiu Ming didn't celebrate for too long after Lee Man edged Eastern Long Lions in their 2021 AFC Cup Group J opener at the Hong Kong Stadium on Wednesday.
The victory in the all-Hong Kong affair means Lee Man are well on course to secure a place in the knockout stage and Chan was quick to shift his focus to his team's next match against Chinese Taipei's Tainan City, who opened their campaign with a 3-0 defeat of Mongolia’s Athletic 220.
Victory on Saturday will mean Lee Man will be well placed to progress to the knockout stage and Chan expects his team to regroup for the Tainan City challenge.

Tashkent: Thailand’s Chiangrai United kick-off their second consecutive AFC Champions League campaign on Friday as they take on two-time winners Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors at Bunyodkor Stadium in Group H.
After failing to navigate the playoff stage in two attempts, Chiangrai United finally made their group stage debut last year. The campaign ended in heartbreak as they finished bottom of the group, but there were plenty of positives for the Thai side including a maiden win against Korea Republic’s FC Seoul.
