Osaka: Thailand women’s national team captain Naphat Seesraum has joined Nadeshiko League side Speranza FC after impressing the Osaka-based outfit during trials earlier in June.
The diminutive 26-year-old midfielder, pictured in action against Japan at the 2010 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, is the third Thailand international to ink a contract with Speranza in 2013 after team-mates Kanjana Sung-Ngoen and Pitsamai Sornsai signed with the club back in February.
"The important thing is that we got a great player from Thailand to join our team,” Speranza head coach Kenji Honnami told goal.com.
“Even if her shape (size) is too small, her most important weapons are speed and smart passes. She also has leadership as the national team captain and these will help us to go forward."
Naphat, who is nicknamed Job, has represented Thailand at the 2006, 2008 and 2010 AFC Women’s Asian Cups and scored twice as the South East Asians sealed their place at next year’s continental showcase with qualifying victories over Bangladesh, the Philippines and Iran.
