Asian Qualifiers - Group E: Draw dents Bangladesh, Afghanistan's hopes

Doha: Bangladesh scored late to hold Afghanistan to a 1-1 draw in Group E of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Thursday.

The result did neither team a favour for their qualification hopes with Afghanistan moving to five points while Bangladesh are on two points.

Up next for Bangladesh are India on Monday, while Afghanistan will face Oman on June 11 with both teams' hopes of automatically advancing to the third round of the Qualifiers for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 hanging in the balance.

Doha: Qatar stretched their lead in Group E of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023, after defeating India 1-0 at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Thursday.

The victory took Qatar to 19 points, seven ahead of Oman who have two matches in hand and will face Felix Sanchez's side on Monday. Bangladesh and Afghanistan shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in the other Group E tie on Thursday.

Dubai: Indonesia came from behind twice to secure their first point in the Asian Qualifiers Group G, playing out a 2-2 draw against neighbours Thailand at Al Maktoum Stadium on Thursday.

The draw was a blow to Thailand as three points would have taken them top of the group, with Akira Nishino's men set to play hosts United Arab Emirates - who defeated Malaysia 4-0 - on Monday.
