Vietnam defeat Myanmar for Women's gold, Thailand take bronze

Phnom Penh: Vietnam won their fourth consecutive SEA Games Women's Football gold medal after defeating Myanmar 2-0 in the Cambodia 2023 final on Monday. 

It is the eighth time Vietnam have emerged champions while Myanmar had to be satisfied with the silver medal for a fourth time.
 
Thailand, meanwhile, defeated Cambodia 6-0 in the bronze medal playoff.

Kuala Lumpur: Goals from James McGarry and Jason Cummings gave Central Coast Mariners a 2-1 win over Adelaide United in the first leg of their A-League Finals Series semi-final on Saturday while Premiers Melbourne City were held to a 1-1 draw by Sydney FC leaving the tie finely balanced ahead of the return meeting. 

In Thailand, Nakhon Ratchasima’s eight-year stay in the top division came to an end after they became the third and final team to be relegated on the last day of the season following a 4-0 defeat to champions Buriram United, joining Nongbua Pitchaya and Lampang in the second division.

Hong Kong: Reigning champions Yokohama F. Marinos suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat at the hands of newly promoted Albirex Niigata in Japan on Sunday meaning that leaders Vissel Kobe extended their advantage at the summit to five points with 13 games played of the campaign.

In Hong Kong, Kitchee SC continued to fill their trophy cabinet with more silverware after a 7-1 win over BC Rangers on Saturday saw them win the FA Cup to add to their Premier League and Senior Shield triumphs this season and complete their fifth treble since 2011. 

In China PR, Shanghai Port and Shanghai Shenhua have identical records at the top after seven matches of the season, but it is the former who take the pole position by virtue of scoring more goals. Doha: Al Arabi ended a 30-year wait for the Qatar Amir Cup title after stunning Al Sadd SC 3-0 in the final on Friday.
