Australia & New Zealand 2023 appoints 17 AFC match officials
Kuala Lumpur: Heba Saadieh created history by becoming the first ever Palestinian woman to be appointed as match official at the FIFA Women’s World Cup when the cast for the upcoming edition of the women’s showpiece in Australia & New Zealand 2023 was announced on Monday.
The contest, which will take place from July 20 to August 20, also marks a return of Japan’s Yoshimi Yamashita (pictured below) on the global stage having officiated at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 last month. She will be joined by Australia’s Kate Jacewicz and Casey Reibelt, and Kim Yu-jeong and Oh Hyeon-jeong of Korea Republic.
AFC announces end of media rights partnership with Eleven
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced today that it has agreed to bring its media rights agreement with Eleven Sports Network to an early conclusion.
Eleven was the AFC’s principal partner in several Southeast and East Asian territories - Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand – but, following the restructuring of the Eleven business, the parties have agreed that alternative platform(s) for the AFC competitions will best serve football fans in the region.
Sports medicine professionals get valuable insight at WAFF’s anti-doping webinar
Kuala Lumpur: The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF), with the support of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), conducted an anti-doping webinar on Tuesday with the aim of raising awareness on anti-doping matters through an educational programme.
The event, which is a-first-of-its kind to be organised by the WAFF, commenced with opening remarks from the WAFF General Secretary Khalil Al Salem, which was followed by a series of lectures from some of the best names in the field.
Tajikistan FF and FA Thailand earn AFC Coaching Convention A level membership
Kuala Lumpur: The Tajikistan Football Federation (TFF) and the Football Association of Thailand (FA Thailand)’s focused efforts to boost Coach Education saw both Member Associations (MAs) recently earn their AFC Coaching Convention A Level membership.
The TFF’s theory and practical sessions, from September 12-25, 2022, were led by Technical Director Gafurov Salokhidin and Instructor Igamberdiev Boir. These featured both onsite and online participants from football schools in Dushanbe and the surrounding regions.
