US-born Phair among young talents in Korea Republic’s new-look side

Seoul: Korea Republic head coach Colin Bell has included 16-year-old United States-born striker Casey Phair in his 23-player squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.

Phair joins captain Ji So-yun and goalkeeper Kim Jung-mi in an otherwise experienced squad after impressing at youth level for the Koreans and Bell stressed the forward has been included in his squad on merit.

Hanoi: Vietnam head coach Mai Duc Chung has finalised his squad of 23 players for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023, their first ever appearance at the Finals.

Kerr spearheads experienced Australia squad

India edge Kuwait on penalties to secure ninth title

Bengaluru: India defeated Kuwait 5-4 on penalties to lift the 2023 SAFF Championship title at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Tuesday.

The match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes with Kuwait having taken the lead in the 14th minute through Shabib Al Khaldi with India equalising seven minutes before the break through Lallianzuala Chhangte.

With both teams tied 4-4 after five spot-kicks each, Mahesh Naorem scored the first sudden-death penalty with goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu then saving Khaled Hajiah's effort to secure a record extending ninth title for India.
