La Plata: Iran’s FIFA World Cup 2014 opponents Argentina beat Slovenia 2-0 in their last friendly match ahead of their campaign which will kick off June 15.
Ricardo Alvarez scored the Argentineans’ lone goal on 12 minutes in their match held at the Estadio Ciudad de La Plata.
Four-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi then scored their second on 76 minutes.
The win was their second victory after beating Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 on June 4 and much earlier, in March, drawing 0-0 with Romania, as part of their preparation for the World Cup in Brazil.
Having made 15 appearances in the World Cup and won two titles, Argentina are sitting in fifth position in the latest FIFA World Ranking and are the highest ranked team in Group H of the World Cup.
