Port Moresby: DPR Korea have their sights well and truly set on a second FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup title as they prepare to meet France in the 2016 final on Saturday.
With much to play for at Port Moresby’s National Football Stadium in Papua New Guinea, here are all the key facts and figures you need to know ahead of the showdown.
The Teams
The only team to have lifted the trophy aside from three-time winners USA and Germany, a feat they achieved at Russia 2006, DPR Korea have won all five of their games in Papua New Guinea, scoring 18 goals and conceding only six. A well-drilled, tight-knit unit, the Koreans will come up against a France side that boasts less impressive statistics, with two of their five games to date ending in draws. In forward Sung Hyang-sim and reserve goalkeeper Ok Kum-ju, DPR Korea have two players who won the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup crown in Jordan earlier this year.
