Kuala Lumpur: AFC has asked Jordan, Oman and Singapore football associations to propose new dates for Match Day 4 and Match Day 5 of their AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 qualifiers following Jordan’s successful qualification to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil intercontinental playoff matches on November 14 and 20, 2013.
Jordan punched their ticket to the intercontinental playoff after beating Uzbekistan 9-8 on penalties (2-2 aggregate) in their Asian playoff on Tuesday and now will represent Asia against the fifth-placed South American team.
Jordan’s AFC Asian Cup 2015 qualifying matches against Oman on November 15 and against Singapore on November 19 now need to be rescheduled.
AFC has requested the three Member Associations to send their proposed new dates, kickoff times and venue details by September 25.
The MAs should agree on the new dates which can include unused 2013 FIFA Match Days and both matches should be played before Match Day 6 of the AFC Asian Cup 2015 qualifiers on March 5, 2014.
If the MAs do not confirm their preferred dates to AFC with agreement among them by the deadline, AFC will confirm the new dates according to the AFC Competitions Committee decision dated November 28, 2012.
As per the decision, Match Day 4 tie between Oman and Jordan will be played on January 31, 2014, and Singapore will host Jordan on February 4, 2014.
