Korea Republic confirm successful Son surgery

Seoul: Korea Republic superstar Son Heung-min has undergone a successful surgery following a facial injury, the country's football association said on Saturday, but declined to say if he will be ready for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward sustained the nasty injury - reportedly multiple fractures to his eye socket - during a UEFA Champions League win over Marseille this week.

Japan's Nakayama ruled out of Qatar 2022 with injury

Tokyo: Japan full-back Yuta Nakayama will miss the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 after suffering a season-ending Achilles injury while playing for English side Huddersfield Town, the club said.

Nakayama was named in Japan's 26-man squad for Qatar on Tuesday and was expected to start in their Group E games against Germany, Costa Rica and Spain.
