Kuol receives Socceroos nod, Sainsbury among those left out

Sydney: Australia head coach Graham Arnold has included 18-year-old Central Coast Mariners striker Garang Kuol in his 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, but has left out AFC Asian Cup™-winning central defender Trent Sainsbury.

Sainsbury, a stalwart of the side that won the continental title in 2015, was not included among the defensive options selected by Arnold while Nagoya Grampus goalkeeper Mitch Langerak, midfielder Tom Rogic and Cerezo Osaka’s Adam Taggart were also omitted.

Machino replaces injured Nakayama in Japan squad

Tokyo: Striker Shuto Machino has replaced injured Yuta Nakayama in Japan's squad for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the Japan Football Association said on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old's call-up is not a like-for-like swap because Nakayama is a full-back.
