Tehran: Carlos Queiroz has agreed to stay as head coach of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Mehdi Taj, the President of the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI), said Queiroz's future had been decided even before the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.
"The contract will be discussed later but yes, Quieroz will remain in charge until the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019," said Taj, speaking after IR Iran returned from their Russia 2018 adventure.

Saransk: Goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand has called for Carlos Queiroz to stay on as coach after Islamic Republic of Iran were knocked out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia despite drawing 1-1 with European champions Portugal on Monday.
Beiranvand saved a second half penalty from Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo after Ricardo Queresma had put the Portuguese in front and Karim Ansarifard’s penalty ensured the Iranians took a share of the spoils.
But while the result ensured Iran finished the World Cup with their best-ever haul of four points from three games, it was not enough to earn the country a spot in the knockout phase for the first time.

Saransk: Islamic Republic of Iran came within a whisker of defeating European champions Portugal, but fell just short of a win that would have put them in the FIFA World Cup round of 16, settling for a 1-1 draw.
Carlos Queiroz saved their best until last as they held Portugal to a draw on Monday, earning their fourth point of the 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign. Their best tally ever was still not enough to see them advance to the next round.
Team Melli set up in their usual compact method and battled for every ball. Once they had gone behind to a trademark Ricardo Quaresma strike, the Iranians threw everything forward and were rewarded with a late equaliser through Karim Ansarifard's penalty. The equaliser was too little too late as IR Iran needed all three points to advance to the knock-out stage for the first time in their history.

"I wish all athletes of our country growing success in different athletic fields."

Saransk: Karim Ansarifard's penalty in added time secured a battling Islamic Republic of Iran a 1-1 draw with Portugal on Monday but it was not enough for Team Melli to advance to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Round of 16.
Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty before Portugal conceded an injury-time spot-kick as the European champions set up a last-16 clash with Uruguay.
Ricardo Quaresma curled in a trademark trivela goal on the stroke of half-time at the Mordovia Arena, but Ansarifard's late penalty dropped Portugal to second in Group B behind Spain.
Ronaldo won a second-half spot-kick after a video review but saw his effort saved, with the Real Madrid star unable to add to his four-goal tally at the tournament.
Portugal will face Uruguay in Sochi on July 30 for a place in the quarter-finals after ending IR Iran's hopes of reaching the knockout phase for the first time.
Ronaldo, scorer of all four Portugal goals in his country's first two games, forced IR Iran goalkeeper Ali Beiranvand into an early save after barging his way into the box.
Joao Mario should have put Portugal in front after a defensive mix-up between Saeid Ezatolahi and Beiranvand, but the Inter Milan midfielder blazed over.

Kazan: They were all heroes but if there was one Korea Republic player who stood a little taller after the amazing 2-0 win over Germany in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia on Wednesday, it was goalkeeper Jo Hyun-woo.
Jo produced yet another outstanding performance as Korea Republic sent the defending champions crashing out in the Group F clash at the Kazan Arena and was deservingly named Man-of-the-Match.
There was no other more deserving candidate, although late goals by Kim Young-gwon and Son Heung-min meant Korea Republic exited the 2018 FIFA World Cup with the record of being the first Asian team to beat the reigning World Cup champions in an official match.
Jo, 26, was amazing as Germany had 26 shots - six of which were on target - and his heroics were passionately applauded.
