Asian match officials ready to shine at 2024 Paris Olympic Games

Kuala Lumpur: As the Olympic Football Tournaments Paris 2024 kick off on Wednesday, Asian referees are set to fly the flag of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) high with as many as 16 officials being appointed to the prestigious competition.

The roster features several familiar faces, including the iconic Yoshimi Yamashita who will be making a second appearance at the Olympic Games following her debut in Tokyo in 2021.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), in collaboration with the United Nations’ (UN) Football For the Goals initiative (FFTG), organised the AFC-FFTG Workshop from July 23 to 24, 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, further underlining the Confederation’s determination to harness the power of football to drive social change.

The landmark event aimed to chart a clear path for the AFC, which became an FFTG member in October 2022, to capitalise on the opportunities presented through its involvement in the initiative, becoming a leading force in sustainability transformation within the global football community.
