Qualifiers R2 - Group C: Chinese Taipei on course, IR Iran keep hopes alive

Doha: Chinese Taipei produced a miraculous recovery from 2-0 down to beat Philippines 4-2, while Islamic Republic of Iran brought their campaign back to life with a 9-0 win over Palestine in Group C of Round Two of the AFC Women's Olympic Football Tournament Qualifiers on Saturday.

PHILIPPINES 2-4 CHINESE TAIPEI

Chinese Taipei dramatically overturned a two-goal deficit to put themselves to within touching distance of the third round, and inflict what may be a crushing blow on the Philippines' Olympic hopes, winning a 4-2 epic at Grand Hamad Stadium.

The Philippines appeared to be marching to their most significant win in a year at 2-0 up, but the outstanding Michelle Pao scored a penalty to give Chinese Taipei hope, before Kazuo Echigo's charges took full control after half-time to claim a priceless win.

INDONESIA 0-6 MYANMAR

Yee Yee Oo scored a hat-trick, while starring captain Khin Marlur Tun bagged a double, as Myanmar comprehensively outplayed Indonesia to earn a 6-0 win.

Win Theingi Tun also got her name on the scoresheet, as the hosts easily overcame their ASEAN rivals to set up a group-deciding Matchday Three clash against India on Tuesday.

Tashkent: Vietnam continued their march to the third round of AFC Women's Olympic Football Tournament Qualifiers with victory over Hong Kong, while Uzbekistan kept their slim hopes alive with a win over Jordan on Saturday.

HONG KONG 1-2 VIETNAM

Vietnam earned three crucial points on the Road to Tokyo, and moved to within touching distance of the the next round with a 2-1 win over Hong Kong at Transportation Institute Stadium.

With six points from two matches, Vietnam are three points clear of Uzbekistan, meaning they require a draw or better against Jordan on Tuesday to guarantee top spot in the group.

Qualifiers R2 - Group C: Flying starts for Philippines, Chinese Taipei

Doha: East Asian sides came out on top on the opening day of Group C action in Round 2 of the AFC Women's Olympic Football Tournament Qualifiers, with Chinese Taipei and the Philippines registering wins over Palestine and Islamic Republic of Iran respectively on Wednesday.

PHILIPPINES 2-0 IR IRAN

Two excellent goals in five second-half minutes proved decisive for the Philippines, who kick-started their week in Qatar with an impressive 2-0 win over Islamic Republic of Iran at Grand Hamad Stadium.

A stunning opener from Joyce Semacio was quickly followed by Alisha Del Campo's precise second, as Let Dimzon's side passed their opening test, and set up a top of the table clash with Chinese Taipei on Saturday.
